Nouakchott, Mauritania — A high-level Moroccan military delegation led by Corps General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, concluded a productive working visit to Mauritania this week. The delegation’s agenda included meetings with top Mauritanian officials to reinforce bilateral military ties.
During the visit, Corps General Mohammed Berrid was received by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani in Nouakchott. The meeting took place in the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar, according to a statement from the Royal Armed Forces’ General Staff.
The same day, the Moroccan delegation visited the Mauritanian Ministry of Defense, where Corps General Berrid held discussions with Defense Minister Hanana Ould Sidi. Following the meeting, the Mauritanian Defense Minister presented the Moroccan military leader with the National Order of Merit, Commander grade, on behalf of the Mauritanian President.
Later in the day, Corps General Mohammed Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Joint Military Commission. Both sides reviewed the progress of their cooperation, highlighting the positive outcomes of their strategic partnership. Officials praised the tangible results achieved through this collaboration, describing it as a model for future military cooperation between the two nations.
