A high-ranking military delegation led by General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone, concluded a productive working visit to Mauritania. The visit, which underscored the deepening defense ties between both nations, began with President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani receiving the delegation in Nouakchott.

During the meeting, General Berrid was accompanied by Ambassador Hamid Chabar of the Kingdom of Morocco. The discussions centered on advancing joint military initiatives and reinforcing bilateral defense strategies.

Later that day, the Moroccan delegation visited the Ministry of Defense, where Minister Hanana Ould Sidi presented General Berrid with the Commander grade of the National Order of Merit. This prestigious recognition highlights Mauritania’s appreciation for Morocco’s contributions to regional security.

Following the official ceremony, General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the 6th Joint Military Commission. The session focused on evaluating ongoing defense projects and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
