Massive Border Cleanup Underway in Libya

The Libyan government has announced a massive cleanup effort along its southern border, with plans to sweep vast areas from Sebha to the Chad border.

Colonel Ahmed Abu Qila, commander of desert patrols in the region, said the operation aims to determine itineraries and establish future strategies while creating a security post in ‘zone 17’.

The effort is part of a broader push to address irregular immigration, which has become a pressing national security concern.

Abu Qila attributed the initiative’s success to support from the General Command and equipment provided by the Vice-Commander General, citing significant improvements in operations and efficiency.

He also highlighted plans to sign agreements with friendly countries and import advanced equipment to bolster efforts against traffickers and transfrontalier gangs.
