N’Djamena — World Vision Tchad has unveiled its ambitious five-year strategy for 2026-2030, setting an unprecedented goal to improve the lives of 3.29 million children across the country. The initiative, launched during a high-profile press conference in the capital, marks a significant expansion of the organization’s efforts to address the most pressing challenges facing children in Chad.

This new roadmap emphasizes an integrated model combining humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding efforts. The strategy targets 3.09 million vulnerable children, focusing on critical sectors such as health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience. The launch event brought together government officials, technical and financial partners, and media representatives, all gathered to discuss the way forward.
Carla Dominique Denizard, World Vision’s Regional Director for West Africa, highlighted the bold and innovative nature of the strategy during her keynote address. She emphasized the organization’s commitment to the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, a framework designed to bridge emergency relief with long-term growth and stability. “Every child in Chad deserves the chance to thrive, not just survive,” she stated. “This vision can only be realized through robust partnerships, grassroots engagement, and a deep respect for local cultures and spiritual values.”
Denizard also underscored the immense challenges facing the region, including persistent insecurity, deep-rooted poverty, climate-induced crises, and large-scale displacement. She noted that World Vision’s approach aligns with continental and global development agendas, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s own Vision 2030. Key priorities include strengthening human capital, enhancing social protection, and adapting to climate change while advancing education through initiatives like Unlock Literacy.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, described the strategy’s launch as a “historic milestone” for the organization and for the future of Chad’s children. He revealed that the new plan represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a clear mission: to reach 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million of the most vulnerable. “Our goal is simple yet profound: to ensure that every child in Chad not only survives but thrives,” he declared.
Ngoy Wangoy also drew attention to Chad’s ongoing struggles, including widespread poverty—affecting nearly 42% of the population—recurring humanitarian crises, and the growing threat of climate change. He outlined the strategy’s core pillars, which include:
- Integrated nutrition and health programs, with a special focus on maternal and child health;
- Education reform, particularly through the Unlock Literacy program to strengthen early reading skills;
- Child protection measures to shield children from violence and exploitation;
- Community resilience-building to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Following the presentation, World Vision Tchad’s leadership issued a call to action, urging government agencies, development partners, civil society organizations, religious and traditional leaders, and the media to collaborate closely. “Transforming today’s challenges into sustainable opportunities for children requires collective effort,” they emphasized. “Together, we can turn this bold vision into reality and build a future where every child in Chad is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered.”
