The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training recently hosted a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena to validate a groundbreaking diagnostic report. This report assesses the current state of digital readiness in Chad’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector, setting the stage for a comprehensive national digital transformation strategy. Bringing together key stakeholders, the session aims to refine and approve a document that will underpin future policies for modernizing vocational education nationwide.

This initiative is part of the Pan-African TVET Digital Transformation Initiative, supported by major continental and international bodies. The assessment engaged over 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (TVTCs) across Chad’s academic regions. Through field missions and digital surveys, the study gathered critical insights on infrastructure gaps, digital connectivity, energy supply, and the integration of digital skills into curricula.

Opening the workshop, the Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, emphasized the strategic importance of digital transformation in aligning vocational training with evolving technological demands and emerging job markets. He highlighted both progress made and persistent challenges, including governance inefficiencies, inadequate digital infrastructure, and the need for enhanced trainer competencies in digital pedagogy.
The validated report will serve as the foundation for Chad’s National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET and its operational action plan spanning 2026 to 2030. The goal is to build a modern, high-performance vocational education system that meets the evolving needs of the labor market and positions Chad as a leader in digital education across the Sahel region.
