The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training hosted a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena on July 10, 2026, centered on validating the ground-level diagnostic report for the upcoming National Strategy on Digital Transformation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The event brought together key stakeholders to refine, review, and approve a critical document that will shape the future of digital education reform in Chad.
This initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation in TVET, supported by major partners including UNESCO, the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), the African Union, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the GIZ-SIFA program. Its goal is to create a sustainable framework for modernizing Chad’s technical and vocational education system. The preparatory study engaged over 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Education Training Centers (CFTP) and related oversight bodies, utilizing both field missions and digital surveys across all national academies.
Key challenges and strategic priorities
During the opening session, Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, represented the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized the urgent need for digital transformation to align education systems with rapid technological changes and evolving job market demands. The government views digitalization as a cornerstone for modernizing TVET, ensuring it remains both competitive and inclusive.
The diagnostic report highlights significant progress in certain areas, but also underscores critical obstacles. These include governance inefficiencies, inadequate digital infrastructure, unreliable connectivity, energy supply gaps, insufficient trainer qualifications, and the limited integration of digital skills into curricula. Dr. Gabriel urged participants to collaborate in refining the report to ensure the final strategy is both pragmatic and aligned with Chad’s unique socio-economic context.
Roadmap to a digitally enabled TVET system
Following the workshop, the validated report will serve as the foundation for developing the National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET and its operational action plan for 2026–2030. The strategy aims to equip Chad with a modern, high-performance technical education system that meets the demands of today’s labor market. By fostering digital literacy, improving infrastructure, and strengthening institutional capacity, Chad is taking decisive steps toward a future where education and technology converge to drive national development.
