The Yan Diomandé transfer saga has escalated in recent hours. The highly sought-after Ivorian winger, a top target for Liverpool, reportedly chose to join PSG, bringing him closer to a move with the reigning double European champions. However, RB Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer has cooled Parisian ambitions.

Leipzig rebuffs PSG over Diomandé

“Our intention is clear: Yan Diomandé will play for RB Leipzig next season. And we will not compromise on that! We know his value. Of course, if Yan continues on this path, the time will come to let him take the next step, but not this year. In principle, we have a four-year contract and we hold the cards. These current developments are above all recognition of his performances. Nothing more, nothing less. And if we don’t find a solution, well too bad, but he still has four years left on his contract. So I repeat: Yan Diomandé will remain a Leipzig player,” Schäfer stated.

For his part, Yan Diomandé was much more evasive in a press conference about his future: “You’re informing me. I don’t have internet, I don’t have Instagram, I don’t have TikTok. My agent talks to the club, I have no information. I don’t want to talk about it, even with my agent, because playing in a World Cup is a chance that comes every four years, so you have to enjoy it. I want to make history with my country and give my best. My dream is to play for my country. I no longer have Instagram or TikTok. I can’t see anything. I have an agent who will handle the rest. For me, the most important thing is to focus on the World Cup and make history.”
