Chad advances digital education transformation with national stakeholder validation

N’Djamena hosted a pivotal national workshop on July 10, 2026, convened by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Vocational Training to review and validate a groundbreaking diagnostic report on the digital readiness of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) systems in Chad.

The initiative, aligned with the Pan-African TVET digital transformation agenda supported by key continental bodies, aims to overhaul Chad’s technical education sector. Field research engaged over 200 participants across 57 TVET centers and related institutions, combining on-site assessments with digital data collection across all national academies.

Workshop kicks off with call for inclusive digital strategy

Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, opened the session on behalf of the State Secretary for Higher Education. He emphasized the strategic importance of digital transformation in aligning TVET systems with evolving technological demands and emerging career pathways. The Government aims to position digital tools as a cornerstone for modernizing vocational education nationwide.

The diagnostic report highlights both progress and critical gaps. Key challenges identified include governance structures, digital infrastructure, internet connectivity, power supply reliability, trainer competencies, and integration of digital skills into curricula. Participants were urged to contribute constructive input to ensure the final strategy reflects Chad’s unique socioeconomic landscape.

Nationwide digital strategy to guide TVET reform through 2030

Following validation, the report will underpin the development of Chad’s National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET and its operational action plan covering 2026–2030. The goal is to establish a robust, high-performance technical education ecosystem that meets labor market demands and prepares learners for future-oriented careers.
