Dakar – Ousmane Sonko, President of the National Assembly, conveyed his deepest condolences following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the spiritual leader of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, on July 9, 2026.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Sonko honored the late religious figure’s legacy, extending sympathies to the deceased’s family, the General Khalife of the Mouride Brotherhood, and the entire Senegalese people.
« It is with profound sadness and deep emotion that I received the news of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké’s passing,» Sonko wrote. « The venerated guide welcomed me with warmth and kindness during my visits to Guinguinéo, leaving an indelible mark on my heart.»
Reflecting on their encounters, he recalled the late Khalife’s unwavering hospitality and spiritual guidance, which had left a lasting impression. Sonko emphasized the late leader’s role in fostering unity and spiritual growth within Guinguinéo’s community.
In this moment of grief, he offered his most sincere condolences to the bereaved family, the Mouride Brotherhood, the religious community of Guinguinéo, and the nation of Senegal.
