Ousmane Sonko, President of the National Assembly, conveyed his deepest sorrow following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the revered Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, which occurred on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Facebook, he honored the spiritual leader’s legacy and extended his heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family, the General Khalife of the Mouride Brotherhood, and the people of Senegal.

« With profound grief and sorrow, I have learned of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family of Guinguinéo, » Sonko wrote. He recalled the warm interactions he had with the late guide during his visits to the town.

« I had the honor of meeting the esteemed religious leader on multiple occasions during my trips to Guinguinéo. Each encounter was marked by his exceptional kindness, heartfelt hospitality, and unwavering warmth, » he shared.

In this « trying moment, » Sonko offered his « most sincere condolences » to the family of the departed, the Mouride community, the religious followers in Guinguinéo, and the entire nation of Senegal.

« May Allah, in His boundless mercy, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal paradise, » he concluded.
