Ousmane Sonko’s residence in Cité Keur Gorgui served as a bustling political command center on Friday, May 15, 2026. With the inaugural national congress of PASTEF scheduled for June 6, 2026, less than three weeks away, the influential leader of the Patriots convened his inner circle for a pivotal strategic session. Key figures from both the government and the party were present, including El Malick Ndiaye, Birame Souleye Diop, Yassine Fall, Daouda Ngom, and Ayib Daffé.

The primary aim of this private assembly was unequivocal: to ignite widespread mobilization and consolidate the political structure around its core leadership, preparing for a momentous turning point.

Discussions during the meeting primarily focused on the profound restructuring of the ruling party, alongside the logistical and political preparations for the upcoming congress. While Diamniadio is strongly considered the likely host city for the event, the most significant developments are unfolding behind the scenes.

Ousmane Sonko intends to formalize the internal reorganizations initiated last April, which saw the appointment of four vice-presidents and the strategic repositioning of long-standing loyalists. The Prime Minister is committed to forging a more transparent and disciplined party framework, designed to effectively bolster governmental efforts in addressing the nation’s pressing economic challenges.

To underscore this renewed phase of grassroots engagement, Ousmane Sonko issued a clear directive to his lieutenants, encapsulated in a powerful Wolof expression: « Yokk thiéré doli gnekh » (increase the quantity and add more sauce). This call signifies a massive expansion of the movement’s momentum. The new mandate involves actively engaging with every locality across Senegal, including its most remote regions, to reignite and strengthen the militant base. Following the gathering, El Malick Ndiaye conveyed profound optimism on social media, foreseeing “bright prospects under the banner of sovereignty,” signaling that PASTEF is poised to demonstrate an unprecedented display of political strength since assuming power.
