The C64 coalition views President Félix Tshisekedi’s latest initiative as a mere distraction, asserting that it fails to address the profound challenges faced by Congolese citizens. The opposition accuses the government of offering ineffective solutions instead of engaging in a truly inclusive national dialogue.
Following five hours of deliberation, Martin Fayulu articulated the coalition’s unified stance: «The populace is not deceived. These repeated consultations initiated by Félix Tshisekedi do not confront the pressing realities of war, insecurity, the health crisis, or the social hardship gripping the Congolese people. They serve only to divert the nation from its genuine priorities.»
Opposition leaders contend that President Tshisekedi is «cynically focused» on securing an extension of his tenure beyond his second term, which concludes in 2028. They assert, «The ruling administration is laying the groundwork for prolonging its stay in power by exploiting the conflict and suffering in the country’s East. The C64 stands firmly against Félix Tshisekedi’s aspirations, which risk entrenching the balkanization of the Democratic Republic of Congo even after his mandate officially ends in 754 days.»
In response to what it describes as a dangerous political drift, the C64 coalition plans to mobilize the public. The alliance is reiterating its call for a significant national march on September 15th, aimed at countering the maneuvers of the current government.
