The Nigerien government has taken a significant step towards the upcoming “Invest in Niger” forum, scheduled from November 24 to 26, 2026. Authorities have formally established the committee tasked with spearheading its preparations, entrusting it with the crucial mission of transforming the event into a compelling showcase of the nation’s economic potential for both domestic and international investors.

The countdown has officially begun. In Niamey, officials inaugurated the ad hoc committee responsible for organizing the international “Invest in Niger” forum. Addressing the newly formed committee members, Mr. Abdoulaye Seydou, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, immediately emphasized the profound importance of this gathering for the country’s economic future.

“Niger holds immense economic potential; it is up to the authorities to create the conditions to reassure, attract, and support investments.” – Mr. Abdoulaye Seydou, Minister of Commerce and Industry

A call for diligence and collaboration

The minister subsequently urged committee members to demonstrate utmost professionalism, adhere strictly to deadlines, and ensure seamless synergy among all involved parties. This directive aims to guarantee the success of an event whose aspirations extend beyond national borders. The forum is set to host several honored guest countries, including Turkey, China, and Russia, alongside special invitees from across the continent and beyond.

Extensive diplomatic engagement

In addition to the honored guest countries, delegations from Burkina Faso and Mali, partners of Niger within the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), are expected. Other participating nations include Togo, Ghana, Chad, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, India, and Saudi Arabia, underscoring the broad international interest.

Structured management via four sub-commissions

The ad hoc committee comprises experts from various sectoral ministries and professional bodies. It is organized into four distinct sub-commissions, each with a specific mandate:

  • Scientific

  • Logistics, exhibition, protocol, and security

  • Communication and institutional coordination

The comprehensive mission assigned to this committee includes defining the event’s organizational strategy, developing the work program, selecting bankable projects to present to investors, and ensuring the forum’s robust promotion and visibility on both national and international stages.

Repositioning Niger as a prime investment destination

Beyond the logistical planning, this initiative is rooted in a broader political ambition. The Refondation authorities are committed to revitalizing the national economy and strategically positioning Niger as a preferred destination for private, regional, and international capital. The “Invest in Niger” forum thus serves as a key diplomatic-economic instrument in this endeavor, particularly as several countries in the region actively seek to diversify their economic partnerships.

The newly installed committee now faces the challenge of transforming these ambitious objectives into a successful, high-impact event within the coming months, living up to the government’s expressed expectations.
