Abidjan – A fresh political entity, named Alternative Crédible (ACR), made its debut to the press on Saturday, July 4, 2026, during a conference held in Grand-Bassam. This movement aims to present a novel political offering for Côte d’Ivoire.
Oxyde Tano, who serves as the National Executive Secretary of ACR and was the primary speaker at the event, outlined the foundational principles, ambitious goals, and overarching vision of this emerging political force. He positioned ACR as a direct response to the pressing socio-economic and democratic challenges facing the nation.
Mr. Tano elaborated that this initiative took root on December 1, 2025, stemming from the collective will of women, men, and young individuals from diverse backgrounds. Their shared determination is to introduce a new approach to politics within Côte d’Ivoire.
As articulated by Mr. Tano, the establishment of ACR is built upon a widely recognized observation: despite its considerable human and natural resources, Côte d’Ivoire continues to grapple with numerous difficulties. These include the escalating cost of living, persistent youth unemployment, significant social inequalities, deficiencies in public services, and widening social divides.
Positioning itself as a left-leaning political movement, ACR firmly asserts its commitment to placing human well-being at the core of its actions. Its vision for Côte d’Ivoire is one that is “just, prosperous, reconciled, democratic, solidary, and steadfastly respectful of the rule of law.”
Operating under the slogan, “Demain se décide aujourd’hui” (Tomorrow is decided today), ACR intends to champion a style of governance characterized by transparency, open dialogue, and an unwavering pursuit of the general interest. In the long term, the party aspires to unite the nation’s vital forces around a credible political project, thereby contributing to the development of a more efficient state, a more inclusive economy, and a more equitable society.
Leaders of ACR presented the core tenets of their political agenda, which notably include fostering youth employment and entrepreneurship, enhancing the educational system, improving access to healthcare, modernizing agriculture, ensuring the safety of individuals and property, promoting women’s rights, combating the high cost of living, driving economic development, protecting the environment, and strengthening national unity.
Oxyde Tano reiterated ACR’s openness to engaging in dialogue with all political and social stakeholders who share their fundamental values of peace, democracy, social justice, and development. He assured that particular attention would be given to young people, women, workers, economic operators, students, and the Ivorian diaspora.
The National Executive Secretary further announced that the movement’s official launch event is scheduled for August in Cocody. During this ceremony, Bamba Abou, the president of ACR, will formally present the movement’s political vision and the primary orientations of its program.
Leading up to this pivotal event, a series of awareness tours, general assemblies, the establishment of local coordinations, and national mobilization and membership campaigns are planned across the entire territory.
“The time has come to turn a new page in our history,” concluded Oxyde Tano, reaffirming ACR’s profound ambition to help construct a Côte d’Ivoire that is “more just, stronger, and more prosperous.”
