Nantes and Toulouse match ends 0-0 as disciplinary panel confirms penalties
The disciplinary commission of France’s professional football league has made its decision official: FC Nantes will play its first Ligue 2 home game without spectators.
The disciplinary commission of the French professional football league (LFP) has confirmed the 0-0 score between FC Nantes and Toulouse FC following the definitive interruption of the final Ligue 1 matchday fixture. The decision, announced on May 27, also includes sanctions against Nantes after crowd disturbances led to the match’s early termination.
The commission declared: “After reviewing the investigation report, the commission has definitively confirmed the score at the time of the definitive interruption of play (0-0). Furthermore, the commission has imposed the following sanctions: one closed-door match at the Stade de la Beaujoire, followed by the closure of the Loire stand for two additional fixtures.”
On May 17, during the 34th matchday, the game between Nantes and Toulouse was halted after supporters from the Loire stand invaded the pitch and launched smoke bombs. Security forces intervened to restore order, but the prefect subsequently ordered the definitive interruption of the match for safety reasons. As Nantes prepares for its return to Ligue 2, the club faces the prospect of playing its first home game without supporters.
