In a sharp rebuke, Maimouna Sène, a prominent figure in the Alliance Pour la République (APR), has publicly called on Senegal’s Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, to back up his allegations with tangible evidence if he possesses any.

Demanding accountability through legal channels

Addressing Sonko directly, Sène emphasized that accusations without proof undermine institutional credibility. She stressed that accountability should never be weaponized for political maneuvering, urging him to channel any grievances through the appropriate judicial system rather than public discourse.

« If you have evidence, present it before the courts and allow the legal process to unfold transparently, » she asserted, underscoring the importance of judicial integrity over political posturing.

Critique of current governance priorities

Beyond legal accountability, Sène criticized the government’s focus, arguing that economic and social challenges—such as soaring inflation, unemployment, and sluggish economic growth—demand urgent attention. She insisted that governance should prioritize tangible solutions over rhetorical confrontations.

Highlighting Sonko’s recent public statements, she questioned their alignment with the pressing needs of Senegalese citizens, urging him to shift from rhetoric to action and lead by example in public service.

Her remarks reflect growing concerns over how political narratives are shaping national discourse, particularly when they overshadow critical policy discussions.
