President Paul Biya has chosen not to personally attend the 21st extraordinary session of the African Union Conference of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for August 30 in Luanda. Despite his recent return to Yaoundé, the Cameroonian Head of State has entrusted Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute with the critical task of representing Cameroon at this significant gathering.

Sources indicate that the Head of Government departed from Yaoundé on Saturday, heading for Luanda, Angola. The primary focus of this extraordinary session is to fortify Africa’s existing mechanisms for conflict prevention and resolution. Key discussions will address various crises across the continent, including the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency in Cameroon’s Far North region and the separatist crisis affecting the country’s Anglophone regions.

Following his commitments in Angola, the Prime Minister is slated to travel to Serbia. There, he will once again represent President Paul Biya at a high-level meeting commemorating the 65th anniversary of the inaugural Conference of Heads of State and Government of Non-Aligned Countries. This event is scheduled to take place in Belgrade from August 31 to September 1, 2026.
