This judicial proceedings trace back to a formal complaint filed with the public prosecutor on July 14, 2026, by Serigne Modou Maroun Niang and Serigne Mourtalla Bousso. Both initiators identify themselves as direct descendants of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, the revered founder of Touba. They take strong exception to public remarks delivered by the head of the National Assembly during the inauguration ceremony of the Pastef headquarters in Mbacké.
