The political atmosphere in Senegal has grown increasingly tense as Khady Diène Gaye fiercely refutes recent statements made by Abdourahmane Diouf. The former Sports Minister expressed absolute disbelief regarding allegations that Ousmane Sonko had consented to a potential debt restructuring plan.
Khady Diène Gaye denounces debt restructuring claims
In a highly critical response, the prominent Pastef official did not mince her words when addressing the narrative put forward by Abdourahmane Diouf. Having previously served in the cabinet alongside him, Khady Diène Gaye stated she was utterly stunned to hear the minister claim that the former Prime Minister and current President of the National Assembly had given his blessing to such a financial strategy.
Dismissing the allegations entirely, she described them as complete fabrication. “Failure for Dramane everywhere! And now, room for grotesque lies!” she declared, expressing her profound shock at the attempt to link Ousmane Sonko with an agreement on restructuring the national debt.
A direct attack on personal and professional background
The confrontation extended beyond policy disagreements, with Khady Diène Gaye launching a direct critique of Abdourahmane Diouf’s career trajectory. She pointed out that he had tried numerous avenues and faced setbacks in his attempts to re-establish himself in the country. Specifically, she pointed to his unsuccessful attempt to pass the bar exam during the 2007-2008 academic years as evidence of past professional hurdles.
Furthermore, the former minister accused Abdourahmane Diouf of engaging in politics for personal gain rather than public service, asserting that he chose a political path designed to serve his own interests instead of those of the Senegalese people. Despite these sharp criticisms, Khady Diène Gaye concluded her address by rallying Pastef supporters, urging all patriots to remain committed to the vision of a sovereign, prosperous, and equitable Senegal.
