The Rassemblement pour la Patrie et la Modernité (RPM), a key member of Gabon’s ruling coalition, has expressed its appreciation to President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for his energetic leadership and nationwide initiatives throughout most of August. In a statement issued by party spokesperson Etienne Francky Meba Ondo, the political group highlighted the leader’s active presence on the ground.
Praise for healthcare funding and provincial development
Under the banner of transitioning from words to tangible outcomes, the RPM commended the government’s fresh commitments to the healthcare sector and its focus on developing the country’s provinces. Notably, the party pointed to the 55 billion CFA francs funding package announced on August 30 in Makokou. This budget allocates 44 billion CFA francs to upgrade medical equipment nationwide, 6 billion CFA francs to restore catering services in public hospitals, and an additional 5 billion CFA francs to boost the National Health Insurance and Social Guarantee Fund (CNAMGS). The RPM emphasized that these measures address critical public needs and urged swift implementation.
Infrastructure milestones and decentralisation efforts
The political group also highlighted several newly commissioned facilities in Grand Libreville spanning the health, commercial, administrative, and defense sectors. Furthermore, 17 structural initiatives were launched in the Ogooué-Ivindo province during the Liberation Day events in Makokou. To promote development outside the capital, the party pointed to the Mayiga housing project, where 50 homes are complete, 25 are being built, and plans are underway to prepare 500 residential plots.
Transitioning from promises to tangible proof
Reflecting on Gabon’s 66th independence anniversary and the third anniversary of the coup that led to the country’s liberation, the RPM adopted the president’s own philosophy: the era of pledges must now transition into an era of proof. The party insists that the true measure of these state policies lies in how significantly they improve the daily lives of Gabonese citizens.
The statement also welcomed the official visit of Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to Libreville, which culminated in the signing of three bilateral cooperation treaties.
Continued support with independent values
The RPM encouraged the executive branch to maintain this momentum, focusing on project completion, long-term infrastructure maintenance, and youth employment. Led by Alexandre Barro Chambrier, who serves as Gabon’s Vice President, the RPM allied with the coalition backing Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema during the presidential election on April 12, 2025, while preserving its distinct political identity. The party currently holds three seats in the National Assembly.
