Morocco and France to elevate bilateral ties at Rabat summit
Rabat will host the fifteenth session of the high-level Morocco-France meeting on Thursday, July 16, marking a significant milestone in the deepening partnership between the two nations. Under the banner of an “enhanced exceptional partnership,” the summit brings together the heads of state—King Mohammed VI of Morocco and French President Emmanuel Macron—alongside key ministers and officials from both governments.
The meeting follows a recent visit by the French ambassador, Philippe Lalliot, to several Moroccan cities, including Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune, where he highlighted ongoing joint efforts to shape the future of bilateral relations. Addressing educators and sports officials in Rabat, Ambassador Lalliot emphasized the tangible progress being made across multiple sectors, from education to economic development.
During the discussions, he referenced France’s 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI, which reaffirmed Paris’ position that “the future of the Sahara is tied to Morocco’s sovereignty.” This stance underscores France’s unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and its role as the North African nation’s top foreign investor and employer.
Looking ahead, the diplomats outlined three critical priorities for the partnership: addressing global challenges through shared solutions, strengthening economic collaboration in emerging industries, and fostering deeper cultural and societal ties—particularly among the youth, who represent the future of Morocco-France relations.
