At least 10 Malian soldiers lost their lives on Sunday following a brazen assault on an army base in the central city of San. The attack, which left the camp temporarily under enemy control, was swiftly claimed by the Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) militant group.
A provisional toll of around 10 fatalities among military personnel was reported by security sources, while local witnesses confirmed casualties without specifying exact numbers. “We have sustained losses, but assessments are ongoing,” stated a military official. “Our troops have since reclaimed the base.”
