The Chadian opposition has once again sounded a serious alarm concerning the nation’s evolving political landscape. During a press conference held this Wednesday in N’Djamena, the political party Les Patriotes, a key constituent of the former Group for Consultation of Political Actors (GCAP), vociferously condemned what it characterizes as an escalating authoritarianism by the current administration.

This perceived tightening of state control, according to the movement, is particularly evident in the recent wave of judicial convictions that have targeted several prominent political figures. Beyond the political sphere, Les Patriotes also highlighted a noticeable deterioration in the country’s security situation, coupled with a worrying rise in communal divisions within Chadian society.
