N’Djamena, Chad – Algeria and Chad officially formalized an agreement on Thursday in N’Djamena, designed to streamline and expedite collaborative initiatives in critical public works and infrastructure sectors.
This pivotal accord serves to deepen the existing partnership between the two nations and aims to rapidly advance the implementation of previous agreements established in April. The Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure confirmed this development.
Initiating studies for the Trans-Saharan Road expansion through Chadian territory
The signing ceremony took place during a coordination meeting held in N’Djamena, marking the second day of the Algerian delegation’s working visit to Chad. Algerian Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and his Chadian counterpart, Minister of Infrastructure, Disenclavement, and Road Maintenance, Amir Idriss Kourda, affixed their signatures to the document. High-ranking officials present included the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Algeria’s Ambassador to Chad, alongside senior representatives from the Cosider Group and the National Public Works Company (SNTP).
The Chadian delegation also saw the participation of the Minister Delegate for Infrastructure and several senior executives. During the discussions, the Chadian minister underscored the “rapid momentum” observed in the execution of bilateral agreements. He specifically commended the tangible progress achieved on the ground since the agreements were initially signed on April 22nd in Algiers, highlighting mutual technical visits and the commencement of feasibility studies for the Trans-Saharan Road project traversing Chadian lands.
