Chad has launched a renewed offensive to combat human trafficking, focusing on rigorous law enforcement and cross-sector collaboration between judicial and security institutions. A circular note has been distributed to key officials, emphasizing the urgency of this fight and outlining mandatory actions to be taken.

Human trafficking remains a severe violation of human rights, frequently involving sexual exploitation and forced labor. As a signatory to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime since 2009, Chad has strengthened its legal framework with landmark legislation, including Ordinance Nº006/PR/2018 and Law Nº12/PR/2018.

Under these new directives, authorities are now required to conduct thorough investigations, file detailed reports, and ensure all cases are promptly transferred to competent courts. Each case must also be reported to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and the National Anti-Trafficking Commission for rigorous oversight.

Provincial delegates have been tasked with enforcing these guidelines strictly, with the ultimate goal of establishing a national database. This initiative aims to build a robust foundation for developing a comprehensive anti-trafficking strategy across Chad.
