In a message released by outgoing Beninese President Patrice Talon, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Benin for the demanding journey they have undertaken together over the past decade.

He highlighted the challenges overcome, reforms implemented, and major projects launched to strengthen the state and prioritize public action for socioeconomic development.

On Sunday, May 24, 2026, newly elected President Romuald Wadagni will be sworn in, formally assuming his duties. From that moment, he will bear the responsibility of guiding the country toward greater progress and collective and individual well-being.

To him, I extend my warmest wishes for success in the mission ahead over the next seven years.

As I prepare to leave office, I want to express my deepest gratitude to you all. I am immensely proud of the journey we have shared—one filled with challenges, reforms, and transformative projects that have fortified our nation and placed public action at the service of socioeconomic growth.

The path was not always easy. Often, it was fraught with obstacles, yet these very challenges made the journey rewarding and inspired us to persevere.

As we reflect on our accomplishments, the world has taken notice, expressing admiration for the progress we have made. Our efforts and sacrifices are gradually bearing fruit, a testament to the collective dedication of all Beninese—men and women, young and old, from cities, villages, and the diaspora.

Serving as the leader of this remarkable journey has been an honor. My gratitude to the Benin and to each of you knows no bounds.

I must also acknowledge the vital role of a remarkable woman who stood by me with unwavering affection and patience, whose guidance was instrumental in my journey. I refer to Madame Claudine Gbénagnon Kpoviessi, wife of Talon, to whom I extend my heartfelt thanks.

My appreciation also goes to all those who surrounded me with love, friendship, and support, enabling me to give my best.

As I hand over the reins to President Romuald Wadagni, I am confident that under his leadership, our nation will make even greater strides toward fulfilling its destiny as a great nation.

With the foundation we have built and an unshakable determination to push forward, I am certain that together, we will rally around him to achieve progress that brings well-being, pride, and prosperity to every Beninese.

Long live the Republic!

Long live Benin!
