The Ministry of Habitat and Transport in Bénin has granted civil engineers an extended window to register with the National Order of Civil Engineers of Bénin. Professionals now have an additional 30 days to complete their online registration.

Who qualifies for registration?

This registration extension applies to civil engineers based in Bénin or abroad who hold a recognized engineering degree. Eligible qualifications include:

  • Civil engineering design degrees
  • Professional master’s degrees accredited by the State and CAMES
  • Equivalent international qualifications

The registration covers multiple specializations such as:

  • Building and public works
  • Geotechnics
  • Transport infrastructure
  • Hydraulics
  • Energy infrastructure
  • Sanitation and environmental engineering
  • Electronics, IT, and telecommunications

Next steps for professionals

All eligible engineers must complete their registration on the official platform www.onic.bj within 30 days from the date of this announcement. The Ministry emphasizes that this measure aims to ensure the smooth establishment of the first-ever National Order of Civil Engineers of Bénin.

The decision follows provisions outlined in Article 65 of Decree No. 2021-300 dated June 9, 2021, which governs the civil engineering profession in the country.
