Benin’s electoral commission is enhancing its technological capabilities through an intensive training program in New Delhi, India. From July 6 to 10, 2026, several senior officials from the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (CENA) are participating in a specialized workshop focused on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into election management processes.
AI and election innovation: a global training initiative
The program, organized by the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) framework, is designed to equip election administrators with advanced tools for modernizing electoral systems. The curriculum covers a wide range of critical topics, including AI applications in election administration, digital governance, ethical considerations, human rights protection, cybersecurity, risk management, and the legal frameworks governing these technologies.
Hands-on learning and international collaboration
Participants will engage in a dynamic mix of learning formats, including expert-led lectures, real-world case studies, live demonstrations, interactive workshops, and peer exchanges with election officials from diverse countries. This immersive approach ensures that Benin’s election commission gains practical insights that can be directly applied to its operations.
