Outgoing AFD Director Recognized for Four Years of Service in Côte d’Ivoire

The outgoing director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Côte d’Ivoire, Adrien Haye, has been honored with a national distinction for his contributions to the country’s development during his tenure. The recognition was officially presented on Friday, July 31, 2026, by the Ivorian Minister of Economy, Finance and Budget, Adama Coulibaly, during a ceremony held at the ministry’s headquarters in the Sciam building, Plateau.

The event was attended by key figures including the French Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Jean-Christophe Belliard, alongside AFD staff members.

Minister Highlights Haye’s Key Role in Economic Development

Representing President Alassane Ouattara and Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, Minister Coulibaly commended Adrien Haye’s dedication to Côte d’Ivoire’s progress over the past four years. In his address, the minister emphasized Haye’s hands-on involvement in identifying and structuring funding opportunities across multiple economic sectors.

“Since assuming his role in 2022, Adrien Haye has spared no effort in supporting the Ivorian government. His work has been instrumental in securing financing, designing projects, and ensuring their effective implementation,” Coulibaly stated.

A Record of Financial Commitment to Côte d’Ivoire

Under Haye’s leadership, the AFD mobilized a total of 934 million euros (approximately 623 billion FCFA) through sovereign loans and resources from the Debt Reduction and Development Contract (C2D). These funds played a crucial role in stabilizing the country’s macroeconomic framework.

Additionally, five new sovereign loan agreements totaling nearly 500 million euros (around 330 billion FCFA) were signed during this period. These commitments align with the objectives of the third C2D and the National Development Plan (PND) 2021-2025, reinforcing the AFD’s position as Côte d’Ivoire’s leading bilateral partner.

Director Expresses Gratitude and Commitment to Future Collaboration

Deeply moved by the national honor, Adrien Haye acknowledged it as a milestone in his career. He expressed his profound gratitude to Ivorian authorities and reflected on the successes of his mandate, reaffirming his strong ties to the country.

“I am confident that the portfolio we’ve built together, particularly with your teams, Minister Coulibaly, speaks volumes. I will continue to advocate passionately for Côte d’Ivoire’s interests,” Haye remarked.

This distinction celebrates the four-year partnership between the AFD and Ivorian authorities, characterized by significant investments in the nation’s economic and social development.
