Strasbourg delivers a stunning Ligue 1 victory over Monaco

In one of the most dramatic matches of the season, RC Strasbourg staged an incredible comeback to defeat AS Monaco 5-4 in the 34th round of Ligue 1.

The game began with Monaco dominating from the first whistle, pressing high and keeping Strasbourg pinned back. Early on, Mike Penders made a crucial save, but his misplaced pass allowed Lamine Camara to pounce and open the scoring for Monaco in the 9th minute. Strasbourg struggled to find rhythm, but against the run of play, they equalized just before halftime when Martial Godo played a quick one-two with Julio Enciso before slotting past Lukas Hradecky.

Monaco regained the lead minutes later when Ansu Fati capitalized on a defensive lapse to fire in from distance. The visitors nearly extended their lead before the break, with Christian Mawissa hitting the post in stoppage time, leaving Strasbourg hanging by a thread at 3-2.

Strasbourg turns up the heat in a wild second half

The second half saw Strasbourg shift into an aggressive gear, fueled by the knowledge that Monaco had no real stakes left to play for. Diego Moreira put the Alsatians ahead for the first time in the 56th minute with a thunderous strike from outside the box, sparking wild celebrations among the home crowd. Just three minutes later, Sebastian Nanasi doubled their lead after a slick team move, making it 4-2.

Monaco fought back, with Enciso pulling one back in the 72nd minute after a beautiful cross from Godo. But Strasbourg wasn’t done yet. Enciso turned provider once more, setting up Godo for a curling effort from 20 meters that sealed a 5-4 victory. The final whistle triggered jubilant scenes at La Meinau, as the home side celebrated one of the most memorable wins of the campaign.
