Senegal’s path to afcon 2027: group J revealed
The Lions of Teranga now know their rivals for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers, having been drawn into Group J. Senegal, the current continental champion, will face Mozambique, Sudan, and Ethiopia on their quest to defend the coveted title. Despite their strong standing, the team will need to maintain sharp focus against these often-challenging African sides.

Following the official draw conducted this Tuesday, Senegal’s national football team has a clear picture of their opponents for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. They find themselves positioned in Group J alongside national teams from Mozambique, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
As the reigning African champions, Senegal enters this qualification campaign with the distinct advantage of being considered favorites within what appears, on paper, to be a manageable group. However, head coach Pape Thiaw and his squad must remain vigilant. Each of their group adversaries possesses experience in African football competitions and can prove particularly challenging to overcome, especially when playing on their home turf.
The qualification schedule is set to unfold across several international windows. The initial two matchdays are slated to take place between September 21 and October 6, 2026. Subsequently, the third and fourth matchdays will be contested from November 9 to 17, 2026. The group stage will then conclude with the fifth and sixth matchdays, scheduled between March 22 and 30, 2027.
