The Senegalese Parliament has successfully passed a significant piece of legislation, championed by the Pastef parliamentary majority. This new law mandates that high-ranking officials submit a second asset declaration at the conclusion of their tenure, in addition to the declaration already required at the beginning of their term. A key question now arises: will this updated regulation apply to the three prominent figures currently holding office? This provision was previously part of a constitutional reform initiative that was ultimately rejected by the Constitutional Council. All eyes are now on President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to see if he will officially enact this pivotal law.
