Ousmane Sonko expressed deep sadness upon learning of the death of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, who passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

In a heartfelt condolence message, Sonko reflected on his many visits to Guinguinéo, where he encountered the late spiritual leader multiple times. The National Assembly President emphasized the late Khalife’s exemplary character, particularly his generosity and kindness during every encounter.

“With profound emotion and immense sadness, I learned of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo,” Sonko stated in his official announcement.

He went on to describe the late spiritual guide as a figure of unwavering warmth and benevolence, whose presence left a lasting impression on all who met him. “Each interaction was marked by his special affection, warmth, and kindness that deeply touched us,” Sonko recalled.

Extending his condolences to the bereaved family, the General Khalife of the Mouride community, the religious community of Guinguinéo, and the entire Senegalese people, Sonko prayed: “May Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal Paradise.”
