Paris Saint-Germain has stepped up its transfer activity significantly. To offset the likely departures of Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan and Lee Kang-In, who is close to joining Atlético Madrid, the capital club has accelerated several dossiers, including those for Maghnes Akliouche of AS Monaco and, more recently, Yan Diomandé of RB Leipzig. The Ivorian winger, who impressed at the 2026 World Cup and was a priority target for Liverpool, has ultimately chosen to join PSG.

Al-Khelaïfi’s close ties with RB Leipzig chairman

Now, the challenge remains to convince RB Leipzig to sell their star. This is where Nasser Al-Khelaïfi steps in. The PSG president is personally handling the financial negotiations for transfers, and his excellent relationship with Oliver Mintzlaff, chairman of RB Leipzig’s supervisory board, could smooth the way. Mintzlaff sits on the board of the EFC (European Football Club), the union chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. Consequently, the Qatari official will try to secure the best possible price for Yan Diomandé, as PSG has decided to stop overpaying for players. Liverpool had two offers exceeding €100 million rejected. But Nasser Al-Khelaïfi also intends to leverage the player’s desire to move to weaken RB Leipzig’s stance.

Yan Diomandé to fulfill his father’s dream?

Indeed, Yan Diomandé himself revealed in a press conference that he is not indifferent to PSG’s interest. “My future? I have a team handling that. I’m trying to stay as focused as possible. I’ve loved PSG since I was a child. I think my father was a PSG fan. But I’m not projecting into the future; I’m staying focused on the World Cup. We’ll see what happens afterward,” he said before the friendly match between France and Ivory Coast ahead of the World Cup.
