Ousmane Sonko and his cabinet set for Friday’s legislative session in Bamako

Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and members of his cabinet are scheduled to appear before the National Assembly in Bamako this Friday, May 22, 2026, for a dedicated session of parliamentary questions.
Parliamentary President El Malick Ndiaye confirmed the announcement, highlighting the significance of the event as a cornerstone of democratic oversight. The session provides a critical platform for lawmakers to engage directly with the Executive branch, fostering transparency and accountability in governance.
During the session, legislators will have the opportunity to question the Prime Minister and key ministers on pressing national issues, including economic challenges, cost-of-living concerns, employment trends, institutional reforms, and ongoing public policies. The exchanges are expected to be robust, reflecting the diverse priorities of Mali’s political landscape.
Since assuming office in April 2024, Ousmane Sonko has participated in four such parliamentary question sessions, establishing a routine of regular dialogue between the government and the National Assembly.
