This agreement establishes the legal framework for Morocco’s technical and operational involvement, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering humanitarian and security stability in Gaza.

Morocco and Gaza peace agreement signing

High-level discussions in Rabat have culminated in Morocco’s formal commitment to the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza. Senior officials from the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), including the Chief of Staff and Commander of the Southern Zone, alongside key defense ministry representatives, engaged in pivotal talks with the ISF leadership and the Gaza Peace Council.

Strategic partnership for regional stability

The landmark agreement, signed at the Defense Administration headquarters, underscores Morocco’s unwavering dedication to international peace initiatives. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, and Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government for National Defense Administration, represented the Kingdom during the negotiations.

Nickolay Mladenov, Special Representative of the Gaza Peace Council, led the international delegation, which included senior officials from the stabilizing force and peace council.

Morocco’s peacekeeping legacy recognized

During the meeting, Moroccan representatives highlighted the Kingdom’s extensive experience in UN-backed peacekeeping operations. This expertise, combined with Morocco’s long-standing regional and global engagement for peace and stability, positions the country as a key contributor to the ISF’s mission. The agreement formalizes Morocco’s participation through the deployment of high-ranking FAR officers, Royal Gendarmerie personnel, and a dedicated military field hospital.

Shared vision for Gaza’s future

International partners praised Morocco’s proactive stance, emphasizing the tangible impact of its contributions to the stabilization effort. The signed accord outlines the technical and operational parameters of Morocco’s involvement, aligning with the broader objectives of the Gaza Peace Council’s founding mission.

The framework agreement reflects a mutual commitment to advancing humanitarian and security objectives in Gaza. By integrating Morocco’s peacekeeping capabilities, the ISF aims to enhance stability and foster conditions conducive to long-term peace in the region.

Next steps in the peace process

With the agreement now in place, Morocco’s participation is set to begin immediately. The deployment of military personnel and resources will proceed in coordination with the ISF command, marking a significant milestone in the international community’s efforts to address the crisis in Gaza.
