Morocco and Iraq strengthen security ties in Rabat meeting
The cooperation in public security, intelligence, technical assistance, and police training was at the centre of a meeting on Thursday in Rabat between Abdellatif Hammouchi and the Iraqi ambassador to Morocco. The two sides also discussed regional security challenges and the fight against international terrorism.

Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, received Hayder Shiya Albarrak, ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Morocco, on Thursday 25 June 2026 at the DGSN headquarters in Rabat.
During the meeting, both parties examined ways to develop cooperation between the two countries in various fields related to public security and intelligence, as well as mechanisms to consolidate the security partnership to include exchange of experiences and expertise, technical assistance, and the police training programme, according to a statement from the DGSN-DGST.
The talks also provided an opportunity to assess the level of security cooperation and exchange views on current regional security issues of common interest, particularly the challenges and threats linked to the dangers of international terrorism.
This meeting reflects the shared will to strengthen security cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Iraq in the fields of security and intelligence, and the unwavering determination of both countries to expand their security partnership to counter security threats and enhance security and stability, based on a common vision, the statement concluded.
