Strong diplomatic ties between Gabon and Mauritania were reinforced during a high-level meeting in Libreville. His Excellency Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of Gabon, received Messouda Bahama Mohamed Laghdaf, a special envoy dispatched by Mauritania’s Head of State, Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.

The Mauritanian Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development carried an official message emphasizing her country’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation with Gabon. During the discussions, the Mauritanian delegation formally submitted Mauritania’s candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF). Dr. Koumba Ba leads this bid, which outlines a forward-thinking strategy built on three core pillars: coherence, balance, and tangible utility for all member states.

This exchange underscored the depth and fluidity of relations between Libreville and Nouakchott.
