With no Champions League football next season, Olympique de Marseille must face the departure of key players like Mason Greenwood. While AS Roma have shown interest in the English forward, Fenerbahçe are determined to take the lead in this saga. A new bid could arrive in the coming days.

The question is no longer whether Mason Greenwood will leave OM during the summer transfer window, but when. The English striker holds the highest market value in the squad and must be sold to help the club from Marseille balance its books. AS Roma, Atlético Madrid, Fenerbahçe and Al-Hilal are among the possible destinations. However, Marseille are not willing to sell Mason Greenwood cheaply, especially since Manchester United are entitled to 40% of the transfer fee.

Fenerbahçe to raise their offer

Reports indicate that Fenerbahçe have already put forward a €35 million bid to OM, which was turned down. The Turkish club remains undeterred and is expected to submit an improved offer before the end of the month. Marseille are pushing in that direction, hoping to finalise a deal quickly as the DNCG has asked for additional documents before making its ruling. Meanwhile, AS Roma have not yet given up on the player.

How much will Greenwood bring in?

The big question now is what fee OM will ultimately secure, with time running short. Recently, journalist Karim Bennati questioned the figures being discussed. “Six months ago, when Greenwood was unstoppable, we were talking about much higher amounts. Now, with Marseille’s poor end to the season and his own dip in form, are we really looking at €50 million for OM? Seeing what other players go for in Europe today, a forward who can score 20 goals a season in Ligue 1 is a bargain,” he said. “If I were Marseille, I would have inserted a clause raising the price to €60 million as of July 1, and I’d wait a bit longer to find a buyer.”
