Legal battle erupts as Sani Mouhamadou refutes claims in controversial press release
In a stern droit de réponse, Attorney Mélissa Nyoth, acting on behalf of Sani Mouhamadou, has categorically denied allegations linking her client to Maxime Eko Eko Léopold in a widely circulated statement.
Unverified assertions trigger legal response
The controversy stems from a press release dated August 9, 2026, issued by legal representatives of Maxime Eko Eko Léopold. The document challenges claims made by Sani Mouhamadou in his own statement dated August 5, 2026, which allegedly implicated Cameroon’s Direction Générale de la Recherche Extérieure (DGRE) in soliciting his services and professional network during 2020.
According to the rebuttal, the opposing party asserts that:
- Maxime Eko Eko Léopold initiated contact with Sani Mouhamadou, proposing services;
- Sani Mouhamadou failed to substantiate his qualifications or official credentials;
- The DGRE ultimately rejected the proposals and severed communications.
The statement further denies any formal request for information or contractual agreements between the parties.
Truth restoration and legal defense
Sani Mouhamadou’s legal team has clarified that the original statement aimed solely to clarify facts and protect his professional reputation after videos were published on July 24 and 25, 2026. Crucially, he emphasizes that Maxime Eko Eko Léopold’s name was never mentioned, suggesting the allegations stem from a misunderstanding.
To substantiate his position, Sani Mouhamadou points to a documented conversation from February 1, 2020, at 7:09 AM, where Maxime Eko Eko Léopold allegedly reached out with the words: “I urgently need your help.”
This evidence, he argues, confirms that contact was initiated by the opposing party and underscores his verified expertise, certified by the Institut des Hautes Études de Défense Nationale.
Following the circulation of the disputed press release, informal attempts were made to resolve the matter amicably, but no corrective action has been taken.
Urgent call for retraction and legal recourse
Despite his respect for Maxime Eko Eko Léopold, Sani Mouhamadou insists on defending his professional integrity and honor. He has issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding the retraction of the press release. Failure to comply, he warns, will prompt the presentation of irrefutable evidence and the initiation of defamation proceedings.
