A legal complaint has been filed with the Public Prosecutor at the High Court of Dakar against Ousmane Sonko, former Prime Minister, current National Assembly President, and leader of the PASTEF party. The complaint was lodged by a collective of Serigne Touba’s descendants, seeking an investigation into statements made by Sonko during the inauguration of his party’s headquarters.
According to the complainants, Sonko asserted that “dirty money entered the holy city of Touba” during his speech. The group argues that these remarks constitute an attack on the honor, reputation, and dignity of Touba and its residents.
The complaint requests the Prosecutor to open an inquiry, summon Ousmane Sonko to clarify his statements, and produce evidence supporting his claims. Additionally, it calls for thorough investigations to determine the validity of the allegations.
The complainants identify themselves as Senegalese citizens, young intellectuals, business operators, and grandsons of Touba’s founder. They emphasize that Sonko’s remarks have caused significant distress to the community.
