The Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM) has firmly rejected circulating claims regarding the death of Sidna Ag Hita, a senior commander closely linked to the group’s leader Iyad Ag Gali. According to reports following a recent military operation in central Mali, Ag Hita was allegedly killed in an airstrike near Diabali. However, close associates of the militant organization have categorically refuted these assertions.
Reliable sources within JNIM confirmed that Ag Hita remains alive and unharmed, emphasizing that no credible evidence supports the death claims. The group has not released any official statement to validate these rumors, further reinforcing the denial of his demise.
The African Legion had earlier disclosed details of a coordinated strike involving an airstrike and rocket fire targeting a rural encampment linked to JNIM in the early hours of May 27. The operation was conducted based on intelligence suggesting Ag Hita’s presence at the site during the assault.
