The Nigerian military has secured the freedom of several hundred individuals previously seized by a Boko Haram faction in Ngoshe, located within the Borno State of northeastern Nigeria. These civilians had been held for several months following their abduction by the insurgent group.
Footage released by the armed forces depicts the harrowing scenes of the rescue, showing frightened women and children being transported in vans and pick-up trucks under the cover of darkness. Once at a secure location, the survivors were gathered on the ground beneath trees, closely guarded by military personnel.
While exact figures are still being clarified, estimates of the total number of people liberated range from 360 to nearly 420 individuals.
