Rabat played host to a landmark gathering on Tuesday as the French Embassy in Morocco marked the National Day with over 1,500 guests at the Residence de France. The event brought together high-ranking officials, including Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports Mohamed Saad Berrada, and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni.
A renewed partnership highlighted
Philippe Lalliot, France’s Ambassador to Morocco, used the occasion to emphasize what he described as a “reframed and balanced partnership”, one that aligns with the evolving priorities of both nations. Speaking alongside his wife, Laurence Folliot Lalliot, he underscored the depth of the historic bond between France and Morocco, calling it a legacy worth preserving and strengthening.
“This friendship is an inheritance we all receive,” he said. “It is our shared responsibility to nurture it, expand it, and ensure it continues to flourish.”
Vision for the future
Reflecting on his own journey across Morocco—from Rabat and Casablanca to Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—the ambassador reiterated Morocco’s forward-looking vision. “From Rabat to Tangier to Marrakech and Laâyoune, where I recently inaugurated the first Alliance Française, we are not merely discussing the future—we are actively building it, day by day.”
Celebrating with culture and diplomacy
The evening featured a reception attended by Moroccan officials, foreign diplomats accredited in the Kingdom, and cultural figures. The program included performances by the Moroccan Philharmonic Orchestra and a set by DJ Retro Cassetta, blending classical and contemporary expressions of culture.
The event served as a vivid illustration of the enduring ties between France and Morocco, reaffirming a partnership rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to progress.
