The French Embassy in Morocco hosted a national day reception in Rabat on July 14, drawing over 1,500 attendees. Ambassador Philippe Lalliot highlighted the strengthening bilateral partnership, emphasizing ongoing collaboration across key sectors.
During the event, Lalliot noted how French-Moroccan cooperation is actively shaping the future, stating, “In Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the city’s first Alliance Française—we’re not just discussing the future; we’re building it, day by day.”
The ambassador, joined by Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports Mohamed Saad Berrada, underscored the depth of the relationship between the two nations. He referenced President Emmanuel Macron’s July 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI, which reaffirmed France’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern territories within international frameworks.
Lalliot stressed that both countries’ diplomacies are aligned in promoting core values of global governance, while also pointing to France’s long-standing economic role in Morocco. “For decades, French companies have been instrumental in driving Morocco’s industrial growth, making France the leading foreign investor and employer in the country,” he remarked.
Looking ahead, the ambassador outlined three key priorities: fostering joint solutions to global challenges, strengthening economic sectors that will define tomorrow’s prosperity, and nurturing cultural ties—particularly among the youth, who represent the future of Franco-Moroccan relations. He also praised the enduring human connection between the two peoples, particularly through vibrant diaspora communities.
