The Deputy Director of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Christopher Raia, made an official visit on Wednesday to the International Police Cooperation Centre (IPCC). This gathering brings together law enforcement and security officials from nations participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

His attendance aligns with the high-level security framework established to oversee all matches during the tournament. Raia took the opportunity to hold a dedicated meeting with representatives from Morocco’s national security agencies, including the Direction générale de la sûreté nationale (DGSN) and the Direction générale de la surveillance du territoire (DGST).

During the discussion, the FBI official expressed deep appreciation for Morocco’s integral role in securing the event and supporting every phase of the competition. He emphasized that the FBI views the North African nation as a trusted and globally recognized partner, lauding its proven expertise and reliability in international security operations.

Addressing an audience of international security delegates at the IPCC, Raia highlighted the critical importance of cross-border intelligence sharing and multilateral collaboration in ensuring the safety of the World Cup, co-hosted by the United States. He underscored the magnitude of the challenge ahead: overseeing security for 78 matches across nearly two weeks, a task he described as unachievable without close international cooperation.

The FBI Deputy Director also noted a significant increase in foiled threats on American soil, crediting this success to the timeliness and accuracy of intelligence provided and the ongoing support of partner nations.
