New digital portal for Gabon Poste account verification
The Director General of Gabon Poste, Alfred Ikaka Bobe, has announced the deployment of a new digital application specifically designed for savers whose assets have been frozen. This tool allows users to consult official lists compiled by the liquidator to verify their eligibility for reimbursement without needing to travel.
To access this service, savers can use a computer or a smartphone to connect to the ccp.laposte.ga platform. This initiative aims to simplify the process for thousands of citizens waiting for the recovery of their funds.
Following its initial activation on Monday, the platform experienced a massive surge in traffic, recording approximately 10,000 visits within a few hours, which led to temporary saturation. Alfred Ikaka Bobe confirmed that the application has since been updated and is fully operational as of this Wednesday.
Instructions for account holders
Users are encouraged to use the portal to confirm their status and provide necessary details. The application allows savers to indicate their current location to facilitate future payments, a feature that is also available to those residing outside of Gabon.
For individuals who were officially registered during the census but have unfortunately lost their physical bankbooks, a visit to a post office remains mandatory. These specific cases will require the issuance of a new document to proceed with the claim process.
Background on the financial recovery plan
The current situation stems from the 2017 bankruptcy of PostBank SA, a subsidiary of the postal service, which resulted in the freezing of many private savings accounts. After years of unresolved promises, the transition government stated in February 2025 its firm intention to settle these outstanding debts.
An estimated 60,000 savers are affected by this measure. A total financial package of 31.212 billion CFA francs has been pledged to clear the debt over a three-year period, with disbursements planned in annual installments of one-third of the total amount.
