The Dakar High Court has once again adjourned the legal battle between Mame Mbaye Niang and Ousmane Sonko, this time setting a new hearing date for July 22, 2026. The decision follows a request from Sonko’s legal team, who sought additional time to address fresh submissions filed by the opposing party.

The dispute centers on a 200-million-CFA-franc judgment awarded to Mame Mbaye Niang after the court ruled in his favor regarding a fraudulent property transfer. The case revolves around a villa located in the Cité Keur Gorgui neighborhood, originally registered under Sonko’s name but allegedly transferred to his family to evade enforcement of the court’s financial penalty.

Sonko was previously handed a two-month prison sentence and ordered to pay the damages, but Mame Mbaye Niang claims the property’s transfer was a deliberate strategy to shield the asset from seizure. His legal representatives argue that the maneuver was orchestrated to create insolvency, preventing the execution of the judgment.

The trial had been initially scheduled for June 10, but was postponed to allow Niang’s lawyers to prepare a rebuttal to Sonko’s latest filings. The delay underscores the complexity of the case, which has now spanned multiple court sessions with no resolution in sight.
