The Municipality of the 7th Arrondissement in N’Djaména has initiated a sweeping operation to clear illegally occupied public roads along Avenue Taïwan. This decisive move aims to decongest traffic, enhance road safety, and restore urban order in one of the capital’s busiest zones.
Why this cleanup matters
Under the leadership of Adoum Hassan Djimet, the mayor of the 7th Arrondissement, this campaign specifically targets unauthorized structures, street vendors encroaching on the roadway, and roaming livestock that disrupt traffic flow.
A city fighting for order
The mayor emphasized the urgency of the situation, citing frequent traffic jams and road accidents linked to chaotic public space use. “Roads must be kept open. I urge residents of the 7th Arrondissement to embrace change and adopt responsible behavior,” he stated. “Every day, lives are lost because of blocked roads.”
Zero tolerance for obstruction
Strict enforcement is now in effect. The mayor warned that anyone illegally occupying public roads will face immediate consequences: “Those who block roads will be arrested, their goods confiscated, and stray animals will be seized.” The message is clear—no exceptions will be made.
