Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, head of state, recently traveled to N’Djamena, Chad, with a primary focus on enhancing bilateral relations and mobilizing the Malagasy diaspora. During his visit, he convened a meeting with approximately twenty Malagasy nationals residing in the country. He underscored the crucial role of the diaspora, stating, “The diaspora represents a significant asset for Madagascar. Their expertise must be more effectively recognized and utilized.”
Beyond this vital community engagement, the mission also aimed to invigorate economic and professional exchanges between Madagascar and Chad. The facilitation of skill transfer and the sharing of experiences were identified as key mechanisms to amplify Madagascar’s influence across the African continent.
A notable highlight of the visit was Colonel Michaël Randrianirina’s participation in Chad’s 66th independence anniversary celebrations, which took place yesterday in N’Djamena. He attended the event at the invitation of Chadian President, Marshal Idriss Mahamat, joining General Horta N’Tam, President of Guinea-Bissau. Randrianirina characterized this gathering as a prime opportunity to “reinforce intra-African cooperation,” further revealing that the Chadian president expressed keen interest in visiting Madagascar to engage in discussions and identify potential avenues for collaboration between the two nations.
